Andy Louie works in many media at PALS, including drawing, painting, video, and digital illustration. An avid drummer and keyboardist, he enjoys recording his music and manipulating it with mobile audio production software. He accomplishes this in collaboration with the artists and staff at PALS who collectively make up videotones.
During the pandemic, Andy has been participating in PALS virtual programming to create digital drawings from his home. About his process and the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, “I use my memory to think about different things, and pick different colors to go with my pictures. I like to use different sounds from keyboards and drums. My favorite is the organ and the different sounds it makes. I like the trumpet too! I make art about my life, people, gardens and backyards, and nature. I want people to be nice to others; to not fight and argue. Right now we can’t see each other unless we stay six feet away. A long time ago we didn’t have this, we just have this now. Other people could catch what you got. Doing stuff from home is better. This way I can work on more drawings.”
