Lorna Barnes is an artist, animal lover, and Portland, Oregon, native. She works primarily in painting, drawing, and ceramics. For Lorna—a self-described baby sister— family is deeply important, and her drawings often re-create and re-live family adventures and gatherings. She is a scrapbooker and never goes anywhere without the photo album her sister, Cheryl, made for her, which is filled with photos from family gatherings, holidays, pets, and pastoral farm scenes at “Ed’s place.” Fond memories and the act of remembering weave through Lorna’s work, and her process of figuration and titling often memorialize family members, pets, and farm animals who have passed on. She also enjoys spending time with her pal, Shweena, and “putting her feet up” and watching TV at home.
