Olga Shchepina is a painter’s painter. Her creations infuse pastoral and playful scenes with vibrating fields of color, textural patterns of brushwork, and dynamic painterly rhythm. Working with a very small brush (preferably with deeply warn bristles), Olga labors over each painting for weeks, if not months, often spending much of her time concentrating on the romantic and heroic task of painting the sky. Olga’s dedication to mark-making and commitment to color allow her to produce paintings that are impressionistic in their handling of elusive color in nature, while holding her narrative intentions gracefully aloft. After working a canvas to completion, she creates a handwritten title in beautiful script, which spells out the poetry of the piece.
Circling an ecstatic star, Olga paints blue stars against a blue sky; painting what we cannot see but know is there.
